Seasons Greetings

Dear BAPAP Community,

First of all a big well done to everyone. You have settled into university well and have made good progress in your thinking and articulation of your practice.

We are now at the end of term and staff will be on leave until 8 January. I hope you too will get a break and ensure that you rest, celebrate and enjoy time with friends and family.

On 8 Jan, we have a formative session on presentations. I invite you to join me on zoom and start to present your research topic. You will not need your slides or other materials ready and only get about 5 mins to speak. It would be lovely if as many as possible join and try articulating your research project. We all know it is not yet finalised and a draft, but I hope this will help you on your way and we all provide constructive feedback to each other.

15 Jan you submit your ethic application for signature to your supervisor. we will read it and check it is ready for the ethics committee to review. They are aware your applications are coming and will work to turn it around quickly. Please ensure that you do not forget to add your consent form templates, participant information sheets and tentative questions for any interviews or surveys.

Now it only remains to wish you Seasons greetings and a Happy and Successful New Year.

Best wishes from the BAPAP team,

Astrid, Kate, Charlotte, Sam and Pedro

Email Set up

Another post re joys of technology.

First off a big thank you to a lovely student who shared their screen and helped me explore what is going on with the mailing list emails not getting through.

How to go into your email:

Log into MyUnihub and bring up the start page

Once you see this page, scroll down to the next set of boxes

The box on the far right is My Email and you click on the first link with the caption University Email.

This will take you through to the web browser for Outlook where your email is hosted.

In the browser, you can adjust settings to ensure emails go into the same inbox. There are 2 in fact and an AI algorithm decides what goes where.

Look at the very top left corner:

First click on View (next to Home), then underneath View Settings

A new window will pop open with your setting options such as size and presentation of emails. Feel free to adjust. The following is what I found the most useful presentation of emails.

The top of the window has Layout Focused Inbox, tick Don't sort my messages

The third section has conversations, where emails get strung together and in my view it is a nightmare to search. I always untick that to have individual emails.

Finally, don't forget to press save to fix the settings.

I hope this will fix your problems. Let me know if not and we look further into it.
